What Is Memory Care?

The Peregrine Way® philosophy, our approach promotes clarity and stability by honoring our residents’ life experiences while providing comprehensive care for all their needs, from support for daily living activities to on-site therapy for specific challenges.

What Memory Care Addresses
Memory care is a lifestyle that offers support for residents living with cognitive conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other forms of dementia.
Our approach includes:
- 24/7 supervision and support
- Secure environments that reduce wandering risks
- Cognitive therapies—music, reminiscence, sensory stimulation
- Staff specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia care
- Personalized routines honoring resident identity and comfort
Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It leads to severe cognitive decline, making daily tasks difficult or impossible.
Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects movement but can also impact memory and cognitive functions.
Other Forms of Dementia
Dementia encompasses a variety of conditions, including vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia.
When to Choose Memory Care
Memory care should be considered when daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and dressing become challenging due to memory loss.
Common signs that it may be time to start thinking about memory care include confusion, wandering, and increased safety risks.
Wandering or Getting Lost
Wandering is a common symptom in individuals with memory-affecting conditions. Without proper support, wandering could lead to potentially dangerous situations.
At Peregrine Senior Living, we offer an enclosed community and outdoor courtyard where residents can enjoy an enriching sense of freedom without risking their safety.
Forgetting People, Places, or Dates
Frequently forgetting familiar people, places, or important dates can be a tell-tale sign of a developing cognitive concern. These issues can sometimes put extra pressure on connections with family members caring for their loved ones.
Through The Peregrine Way®, we can work towards strengthening those bonds using techniques that stimulate long-term memories.
Increasing Risk of Injury
Memory impairments can increase a person’s risk of injuries due to accidents, falls, or inability to recognize hazards. Memory care provides a safe, monitored environment with features that can minimize these risks.

Our Testimonials
Everything at this facility has met or exceeded my expectations. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My brother likes the food. Everything is clean. I sleep well knowing that my brother is safe, happy, and well cared for.
Shaker
My mom lost my dad and we moved her into Peregrine Shaker so she would not be alone. It took a bit to adjust but it was the best decision we have made. She is very social and needed that outlet. We needed to be sure she was getting her meds and that is all done for her without worry. Mom is so happy and has a lot of new friends. We highly recommend!
